Men's Cross Country

No. 23 Women’s Cross Country and Morefield Claim Victory at Golden Eagle Invitational; Men’s Team Finishes Fourth

Morefield won her second race of the season on Saturday morning

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Rogers State cross country capped off its regular season with a strong performance at the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday morning at Pollards Field.
 
Sophomore Amy Morefield secured her second individual victory as the No. 23 women's cross country team claimed its second team title of the season, finishing with a score of 21 in the 6K. Morefield won the race with an impressive time of 21:58. Oklahoma City placed second with 38 points, and Northwest Arkansas finished third with 102 points.
 
Jordan Wallace finished second in 22:06.4, while Brooklyn Garafola took fourth with a personal best of 22:09.0. Kaylee Nay also achieved a personal best, finishing fifth in 22:18. Emily Cruz rounded out the top 10 with a personal best of 22:52.2.
 
The men's team finished fourth, with sophomore Nathaneal Gibson leading the way with a third-place finish in 25:26.5 in the 8K. Oklahoma City won the race with 43 points, followed by John Brown with 71 points and Mid-America Christian with 78 points.
 
Tanner Jenks placed 16th in 26:39.0, Ian Conder finished 24th in 27:17.1 and Adam Sium took 28th with a personal best time of 27:26.4. The trio each collected top 30 finishes for the Hillcats.
 
RSU cross country will return to action on Oct. 25 for the MIAA Cross Country Championship meet in Pittsburg, Kansas. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11 a.m. at Four Oaks Golf Course.
