CLAREMORE, OKLA. – Forty-Two Rogers State Student-Athletes were named recipients of the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Awards announced earlier this week.
Nine Hillcat Athletic programs saw student-athletes recognized led by Hillcat Women's Soccer with nine. RSU Men's Soccer totaled seven student-athletes on the list. Women's Golf and Softball were represented with six each. Women's Cross Country and Track saw five student-athletes earn the honor. Women's Basketball and Baseball each saw three student-athletes meet the academic requirements for the award. The Men's Cross Country and Track program was represented with two and men's golf had one student-athlete earn the honor.
The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 14th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In total, there were a record breaking 16,164 student-athletes from 187 institutions recognized for the 2020-21 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the award's program.
For a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution MUST BE a CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.
The student-athlete must also, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
Given the vast experiences institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who meet bullet point items 1 and 2 are still eligible if they were still an active member of the roster during this academic year.
