OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Rogers State softball team dropped a pair of games on the road at Oklahoma Christian Friday, both by scores of 8-0, at Tom Heath Field.
GAME ONE
The Lady Eagles quickly took control of the Heartland Conference series opener scoring three times in the first inning and followed with four runs in the second on their way to an 8-0 victory in six innings.
The Hillcats posted all three of their hits in the first four frames, but could not get past second base as OC turned two double plays keeping RSU's speed off the bases.
The home side closed out the short-inning game tallying the winning run on a RBI single into center for the 8-0 decision.
Katelyn Gamble recorded two of the team's three hits going 2-for-2 at the plate and
Ashley Williams added the other.
GAME TWO
RSU remained within striking distance in the night cap until the final two innings where OC closed the sweep by taking the game 8-0.
Ashleigh Stidman led the first pulling a double down the line in right and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Gamble. The senior was stranded there as the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the second.
The Lady Eagles broke the deadlock capitalizing on a lead-off walk to score on a RBI groundout. OC went on to post a five-run fourth inning on five hits, including a two-run home run before closing the run-rule victory in the fifth scoring twice on four hits.
Jamie Kowalick joined Stidman with the two hits for the Hillcats in the loss.
RSU (17-29 overall, 6-14 HC) close the weekend series with the third and final game Saturday afternoon starting at noon.
