TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Rogers State softball team dropped a pair of games closing the Northeastern State Softball Festival Sunday falling to the host RiverHawks 10-0 before an 8-1 loss to Cameron.
GAME ONE – Northeastern StateRSU generated only four hits in a six-inning loss to NSU, 10-0, at RiverHawks Park in the first game in the morning.
NSU struck for a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the first and tacked on two more behind a two-run home run in the fourth for a 4-0 advantage. The RiverHawks closed out the run-rule victory posting six runs on four hits in the sixth capped by Haley Acrey's three-run home run.
Katlin Alexander had two of the Hillcats' four hits going 2-for-2 at the plate with
Katelyn Gamble and
Ashleigh Stidman provided the other two hits.
Jessica Christian suffered the loss allowing four runs on six hits in three innings of work.
GAME TWO – CameronAfter a lengthy break between games, the Hillcats were within striking distance early against Cameron before a five-run inning led to an 8-1 win for the Aggies closing the day at Tahlequah High School.
Cameron scored two runs in the second and one in the third for a quick 3-0 advantage until RSU got back-to-back singles with one out from
Morgen Blanchard and Alexander in the fourth.
Arika Araujo drove one run home singling through the left side of the infield. With the tying run at the plate, CU's starting pitcher Emily Wasinger struck out the next two batters to end the threat.
The Aggies broke the game open scoring five times in the bottom of the fourth as the first six batters reached safely to pick up an 8-1 victory.
Blanchard and Alexander led RSU going 2-for-3 at the plate. Christian allowed six runs, four earned, in five innings of the finale and was charged with the loss.
