Hillcats Fall in Doubleheader at Oklahoma Christian

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State softball team dropped a pair of road games at Oklahoma Christian on Friday night at Tom Heath Field.

The Hillcats were held to just three hits in the opener while the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame and never relinquished the advantage, registering a 4-0 win. In the nightcap, RSU was held scoreless as OC belted eight hits en route to the 3-0 win.

GAME ONE

RSU left runners stranded in five of the seven innings and struggled to get an offense going in the 4-0 loss.

OC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. After three scoreless innings, the Eagles doubled their advantage with a two-run home run by Niki Davidson.

Yolanda Rios suffered the complete-game loss, allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts.  Shey Coats tossed the complete-game victory for OC, allowing just three hits while fanning 10.

GAME TWO

The Eagles committed three errors in the finale but RSU was unable to capitalize, stranding six base runners.

A costly error led to a 1-0 lead for the Eagles in the second inning. Brooklyne Harbert tallied two quick outs but a fielding error kept the inning alive and led to a run for OC.

In the fifth, OC strung together three hits to drive in a pair of runs to push the advantage to 3-0.

The Hillcats threatened in the top of the seventh with runners on first and third with one out but the Eagles retired the final two batters to seal the win.

Harbert tallied the loss in the circle for RSU, allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts. Taylor Mosher allowed three hits in the complete-game victory for OC.

Rogers State (10-23, 4-10) will complete the three-game series with the Lady Eagles on Saturday at noon.
