OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer bested Oklahoma Christian, 3-1, with a stiff defensive effort from goalkeeper Jordan Harris Saturday evening at Eagles Soccer Field.
Harris totaled 10 saves on the evening as the Eagles outshot the Hillcats 25-12 including 19 shots fired by OC in the second half. The stifling defense led by Harris was benefitted by three Hillcat goals.
Taylor Hallford delivered the first blow for RSU with her third goal of the season coming off a corner kick in the 28th minute giving the Cats a 1-0 lead. In the 67th minute the Hillcats struck again on a penalty kick conversion by senior Melissa Subu, her fourth on the year, on the eventual game winner.
Tara Garrett added an insurance goal in the 72 minute as the Claremore, Okla. native scored unassisted for her eighth of the season.
Harris earned the victory for the Hillcats in goal as she totaled eight saves in the second period. Harris and RSU allowed a single goal in the 73rd minute on a penalty kick.
Rogers State (3-10-1, 2-5-0) will face Dallas Baptist University on the road Monday in Heartland Conference action with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
