RSU Women Stay Unbeaten with Weekend Victories

NEWTON, Kan. - The Rogers State women's soccer team returned home from a weekend road trip with its perfect record still intact.

The Hillcats blanked Friends University, 1-0 Friday night in Wichita, Kan., and topped Bethel College, 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Newton, Kan., to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Kimmia Parker scored the only goal of the match against Friends on an assist from Lauren Hager in the 22nd minute. That proved to be all the offense RSU would need as the Hillcats posted their third shutout of the season. Junior goalkeeper Bailey Lynn recorded the win between the posts with three saves.

The Cats fell behind early in their match against Bethel College when Louise Zurkee scored in the 25th minute. It marked just the second goal given up by the RSU defense on the season. Hager evened the score with a strike right before the half on an assist from Shereen Clarke.

Sarah Williamson put RSU in front when she found the back of the net in the 57th minute and Tiffany Roberts put the game away with the final tally in the 70th minute. Abby Farrar was credited with an assists on Williamson's goal while Hager setup up Roberts, giving her one goal and two assists for the weekend.

Rogers State (5-0) returns home Tuesday evening to host Sterling College at Soldier Field in Claremore. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be followed by a men's contest at 7 p.m.
