About: Bates transitions to collegiate golf following a number of impressive results on the junior circuit throughout southern Canada and on the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT). The Mississauga, Ontario native placed second in the FCWT at TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course and at World Woods Pine Barrens capping four top-10 finishes during the 2013-14 season with a 76.5 scoring average. He was named golf team MVP four times for the Spartans of Lorne Park Secondary School while landing on the honor roll twice. Bates also reached the round of 16 at the Ontario Junior Match Play Championship twice during his amateur career. He was chosen to be on Team Ontario for the 2012 Can/Am Matches in South Carolina a year after becoming the youngest golfer in history to qualify for the Toronto Star Amateur at age 14. The son of Dan and Rebecca Bates, he said he chose RSU because of "the great business management program and an exceptional golf team, including players, coaches, and facilities."
