ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Hillcat Men's Golf finished in 17th place at the MWSU Holiday Inn Express Invitational, held at St. Joseph Country Club.
"The results from the tournament are not good, but there was actually some progress made in our games," commented head coach Steve Brown following the tournament. "We've been working on some new techniques around the greens and with our wedges, and while they did not work in the first round, the guys were able to use them successfully in the second round." Brown added, "Even though it looks like we took two steps forward last week and five steps back this week, I can say with confidence that the team is making strides in the right direction."
The Hillcats shot 304 (+24) in the final round, bringing their three-round total to 899 (+59). Central Missouri won the tournament with an 840 (E), finishing ahead of Central Oklahoma (+4) and Washburn (+9), both of which made significant jumps into the top three in the final round.
Freshman Max Ricart finished tied for 66th with a three-round score of 224 (+14), after shooting 78 (+8) in the final round. The Barcelona, Spain, native concluded the tournament with eight birdies and added an eagle on the final hole.
