RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The GAC/MIAA announced its Week 1 Men's Soccer Players of the Week, and Alex Fletcher and Tristan Miller each garnered recognition. Both athletes claimed this honor for the first time in their careers.
 
Fletcher was named the Defensive Player of the Week. The native of Pontefract, England, opened his senior season with three points in a 2-0 week against McKendree and Maryville. He scored the Hillcats' first goal of the season, which was also the game-winner, in the victory over the Bearcats on Thursday. Fletcher added an assist in the 3-1 win against the Saints at Soldier Field on Saturday and anchored the defense with 164 total minutes played on the field.
 
Miller (2-0) began his collegiate career with two wins in goal during the opening weekend of the season, resulting in his Goalkeeper of the Week honor. The freshman from Cape Town, South Africa, recorded a shutout against the McKendree Bearcats, making five saves in a 1-0 victory. He added five more saves in the 3-1 win against the Maryville Saints on Saturday.
 
The Hillcats will hit the road this week against Rockhurst in Kansas City, Missouri, tomorrow, followed by a weekend trip to Tyler, Texas, to take on UT Tyler this Saturday.
