CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State cross country head coach
Matt Kennedy has released information on the 2025 women's cross country schedule.
The Hillcats will compete in five regular season meets in 2025, starting with the annual RSU Distance After Dark meet on Thursday, September 4, at 10:00 p.m. Last season, RSU won the meet at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa, with
Sisely Mitchell leading the team with a fourth-place finish.
Next, RSU will head to Joplin, Missouri, for the MSSU Southern Stampede on Saturday, September 20, at 8:00 a.m. Last season,
Jordan Wallace (9th) and
Cadence Cordova (10th) played key roles in the Hillcats' dominance that contributed to their second first-place finish of 2024.
An action-packed October will kick off with the 37th Annual Chili Peter Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas on Saturday, October 4, in Fayetteville. The Hillcats will compete in either the Harter's Habanero race at 11:00 a.m. or the Prairie Fire Pepper at 12:10 p.m. This will mark RSU's first time competing at the festival since 2022, where they secured a fourth-place finish.
The regular season will conclude on Saturday, October 11, at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Siloam Springs, Arkansas (time TBA) and the UAH Chargers Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama, at 8:50 a.m. RSU won the Golden Eagle Invitational last season behind top-10 finishes from
Katie Byrd (4th), Cordova (8th) and
Rayna Kucharyski (10th).
Postseason action will commence on October 25 with the MIAA Championship in Pittsburg, Kansas, at the Four Oaks Golf Course at 10:00 a.m. The Hillcats aim for another impressive performance, similar to last season's runner-up finish, which featured All-MIAA performances from Byrd (9th) and Wallace (10th).
The Hillcats will return to the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin on November 8 at 10:00 a.m. for the NCAA Central Region Championship. Led by All-Region performances from Byrd (10th) and Wallace (22nd), Rogers State punched its ticket to the nationals last season with an impressive fifth-place finish – the best finish in program history.
The 2025 campaign will end with the NCAA Division II Championship on November 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at the Wayne E. Danehl National Cross Country Course at 10:00 a.m. The Hillcats finished 22nd with 554 points in the 6K during their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championship meet in program history last year.
