AZUSA, Calif. -Â Rogers State track and field's Cadence Cordova and Nathaneal Gibson wrapped up competition on the first day of the Franson Last Chance on Friday.
The highlight of the day came in the women's 5,000 meter as Cordova finished in seventh with a new school record time of 17:11.59, breaking Brianna DeAngelis-Stinnett's record from 2024 by 0.01 seconds. This is also the fifth fastest time in the MIAA this season.
In the men's 5,000 meter, Nathaneal Gibson finished in 59th with a new personal best time of 15:32.53, surpassing his previous top mark by 0.95 seconds.
The two will be back in action tomorrow as they compete in the 1,500 meter to close out the meet. The women's race is set to begin at 8 p.m. PT, while the men's race follows at 8:45 p.m.
