CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball (10-2, 2-0 MIAA) clinched the series with a 5-1 win over Northeastern State (6-7, 3-2 MIAA) at the RCB Bank Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Hillcats got out to a fast start in the first inning as they pushed across three runs for an early 3-0 lead.
Andrew Ramirez drove in
Luis Fuentes with a single to third.
Jackson Romero later plated both Ramirez and
Andres Contreras with a double to right field.

After three scoreless innings, RSU added another insurance run to go up 4-0. Fuentes was hit by a pitch with two outs to get on base. He later scored on a Ramirez single.

The Riverhawks got a run back in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 4-1. An RBI double put them on the board.

The Hillcats sealed the 5-1 win with one final run in the eighth inning. Ramirez stayed hot as he unloaded on a pitch for a solo home run.

Ky Decker (3-0) earned the win with a 6.0 inning start, only allowing one hit with five strikeouts.
Landon Riley (1) earned the save, working the final 2.1 innings in relief and scattering three hits with two strikeouts.
Dylan Weddle put together a solid performance with 0.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout. Braxton Jones (2-1) suffered the loss.

RSU will go for the sweep tomorrow as they travel back to Tahlequah for the series finale. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
