WICHITA, Kan. – Rogers State women's soccer (2-10-2, 1-5-2 MIAA) secured a dominant 4-1 road win over Newman (0-14-1, 0-9-0 MIAA) on Friday.

Chris Jones. "The girls worked hard and I'm super proud of everyone. Winning on the road is always hard and we accomplished what we came here to do!"
Alix Tirado-Negrete scored the first hat trick of her Hillcat career as
Keiana Jones got on the scoresheet for the first time this season. Despite allowing one goal,
Marlou Frieling was outstanding in net as she made six saves.
RSU wasted no time as the immediately went on the attack with Tirado-Negrete finding the back of the net off a pass from
Delana King 82 seconds into the match. She struck again in the 12th minute to give the Hillcats an early 2-0 lead. Things leveled out for much of the remainder of the half with RSU outshooting the Jets 9-8 in the period with seven shots on goal to three. However, in the 35th minute Jones scored with an assist from
Brooke Hartshorn to send things into the break with the Hillcats up 3-0.
In the second half, Newman refused to go down without a fight as they cranked up the offensive pressure. In the 56th minute, they finally got on the board to cut the deficit to 3-1. It would be the Jets who would led the final 45 minutes with nine shots to RSU's six, including four shots on goal to two. In the 84th minute, Tirado-Negrete was able to get behind the Jets keeper to put the game on ice and deliver the Hillcats the 4-1 victory.
RSU will close out the final road trip of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 27 as they travel to Edmond, Okla. to take on Central Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
