CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State women's soccer (1-9-2, 0-4-2 MIAA) hosted a home game for the first time in a month, but fell to Emporia State (5-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAA) 3-0 on Friday.

"Emporia State is a good team and surprised us on some set pieces," Head Coach
Chris Jones said. "But in the second half, we played our style of ball and it created some problems for them. However, we did not do our part and could not put the ball in the back of the net."

In the first half, the Hornets outshot the Hillcats 6-4, with Emporia taking all six shots on goal.

Emporia State managed to score twice in the period. ESU's first goal came in the 17th minute of the game.
Amaya Davis almost put one in the back of the net for RSU in the 18th minute, but her shot went just wide to the left. The Hornets kept creating offensive chances and doubled its lead in the 35th minute to go up 2-0.
Amaris Jasso nearly cut the deficit in half when she took a shot in the 39th minute, but it missed just wide to the right.

In the second half, RSU took three shots on goal to Emporia State's two, and managed to outshot them 8-5.

The Hillcats first shot on goal in the 46th minute came from
Hannah Schulze. In the 59th minute,
Hope Jensen fired one in goal too in the 59th minute, but was saved. Eight minutes later, the Hornets sealed the 3-0 win with the final goal in the 67th minute.

RSU will return to Soldier Field on Sunday, Oct. 20 as they host No. 16 Washburn. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
