RSU Sends Seniors Out On Top With Win Over Lincoln

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (5-23, 3-19 MIAA) sent the five seniors out on top with a 67-64 win over Lincoln (7-21, 5-17 MIAA) in the regular season finale on Saturday.
 
All five seniors scored in the win. Jordan Lewis led the way with 15 points to go with six rebounds. Bailey Kliewer posted 13 points with four rebounds and an assist. Fredrionna Adams put up seven points with a game-high four assists and four steals as well as two rebounds. Alyche Brown and Briana Baker-Bruce both contributed six points. Brown added three rebounds, two steals and an assist while Baker-Bruce added three rebounds and an assist.
 
The Hillcats were white hot out of the tip as they opened the game on an 8-4 run. They managed push that out to a 16-5 lead, and carried an 18-7 margin into the second quarter.
 
RSU kept their hot start rolling as they began the final 10 minutes of the half on a 11-3 run to push out to their largest lead of the game at 29-10. The Blue Tigers began to slowly wake up as they ripped off a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 29-15 and closed out the half on a 8-2 run to trim the Hillcats lead to 31-23 going into the break.
 
LU carried their newfound momentum into the second half as they went back to work whittling away at the margin. A 6-3 run to start the third quarter got the lead down to 34-29. RSU was able to stifle the comeback over the next few minutes, but another run of 14-6 tied the game at 45-45 with 2:16 left in the quarter. RSU fought back and finished the period on a 4-2 run to go back up 49-47 headed into the fourth quarter.
 
Things were extremely tight in the final 10 minutes as a three pointer with 8:42 left gave the Blue Tigers their first lead since the opening moments of the game at 50-49. The Hillcats responded by going on a 13-2 run to retake the lead 62-52. LU refused to quit fighting as they got the deficit back down to 62-58 with a minute and a half left. RSU salted the game away with free throws down the stretch, but a final possession three from the Blue Tigers set the final score at 67-64.
