CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (6-6-2, 4-4 MIAA) lost 1-0 to Fort Hays State (10-1-3, 6-0-1 MIAA) during a cold and windy Sunday afternoon in what was a physical defensive showdown.

Tiffany Brittan (5-6) tallied seven saves, but gave up one goal in the second half.

In the first half, both teams saw little offensive success, but FHSU took four shots, while the Hillcats were only able to get off two shots. The Tigers tallied two corner kicks in the first half, but RSU did not take a corner in the entire game. FHSU took three of their four shots within the first 11 minutes of the game, but Brittan kept the ball out of the net. The Hillcats one scoring opportunity of the period came in the 31st minute as
Alix Tirado struck a clean shot, but the Tiger keeper made a miraculous save.

In the second half, FHSU tallied nine shots, whereas RSU only recorded three shots. The Tigers also kicked three corners in the second half. In the 57th minute, FHSU scored the one and only goal of the contest by Allison Worley, assisted by Kintzli Wagner. RSU did create opportunities late in the game and had a free kick in the 87th minute, but the shot soared well above the goal from just outside the penalty box.

The Hillcats will return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 20 as they host Missouri Western, which is the third game in the midst of RSU's four game homestand. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
