CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (4-3-3, 1-1-1 MIAA) fought to a 1-1 draw with Emporia State (2-4-4, 0-0-3 MIAA) on Sunday.

Hailey Gunn found her way onto the scoresheet with her first goal of the season.
Cambree Towle was excellent in goal with eight saves on 22 shots faced.

The opening half was a defensive struggle that saw both sides fight for limited offensive chances. However, the Hillcats took advantage of their chances as
Hailey Gunn put them up 1-0 in the 33rd minute with a goal. RSU had another excellent opportunity in the 39th minute as
Hannah Schulze lined up for a penalty kick only for the ball to bang off the crossbar. In total, the Lady Hornets outshot the Hillcats 7-5 in the period with both sides taking three shots on goal.

The second half saw ESU crank up the intensity on both the offensive and defensive sides. They managed to outshoot RSU 15-2 in the period with six shots on goal compared to just one by the Hillcats. The Lady Hornets would score the equalizer in the 73rd minute as Hannah Woolery punched in the ball at the mouth of the goal off a corner kick from Angela Palmer to knot things at 1-1.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 30 as they welcome Central Missouri to Soldier Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
