Vaughan Earns Her 200th Win, No. 3 Hillcats Sweep Lincoln

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Head Softball Coach Andrea Vaughan earned her 200th career win as the skipper of the Hillcats (29-3, 8-0 MIAA) as they swept Lincoln (11-18, 0-10 MIAA) in a conference doubleheader on Friday.

GAME ONE - RSU 11, LU 0 5 Innings

RSU wasted no time getting things started in the first game as they exploded out of the gate with eight runs in the first inning. Abbey Rogers bashed a grand slam over the left centerfield wall to start things off. Bridgett Morales and Lana Gass later scored on a fielding error by the third baseman. Chelsea Spain capped off the frame with a two-run blast on a full count pitch out to left that drove in Tailee Reding.

The Hillcats tacked on another run in the second inning to push out to 9-0. Gass got in on the home run fun as she sent a ball sailing over the left wall. They added one more run in the bottom of the third as Nicole Gonzalez crossed home on a RBI groundout from Jaylan Gibson.

RSU pushed across one final run in the fourth inning to seal the 11-0 victory. Morales brought in Gass with a RBI groundout to second.

Andrea Morales (17-1) was dominant as she earned the win striking out nine and only allowing one hit in 4.0 innings of work. Hannah Clark (1-3) took the loss.

GAME TWO - RSU 7, LU 0

After both starters worked a scoreless frame to open the second game, the Hillcats took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Elexis Watson continued the home run party with a solo shot to straight away center.

RSU added three runs in the third inning to push out to 4-0. Nicole Price scored on a RBI single to left from Makayla Bowman. Abbey Rogers returned the favor as she drove in Bowman and Jaylan Gibson with a two RBI single through the left side of the infield.

The Hillcats tacked on one run in the each of the next three innings to seal the 7-0 win. In the fourth inning, Watson went yard again, this time launching a ball over the left field wall. Abbey Rogers uncorked her second home run of the day to left in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Chelsea Spain scored the game's final run on a RBI bases loaded walk from Rogers.

M'Kayla Hillman (9-2) earned the win striking out four and scattering three hits in 5.0 innings. Jordan Galliher (3-7) took the loss.
