CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (9-13, 5-11 MIAA) knocked off Emporia State (11-10, 6-9 MIAA) in the first win against the Lady Hornets in school history with a 77-59 rout on Saturday.

Four Hillcats finished in double figures.
Vanessa Gajdosova led all scorers with 21 points and a team-high five assists.

Jordan Lewis posted her third double-double of the season as she scored 13 points and cleaned up an astonishing 19 rebounds (13 defensive and six offensive). Not only is this a career-high for Lewis, but it's the most by any Hillcat in the Division II era and is tied for the second most in school history with Azzie Knox's performance in 2009.

Bailey Kliewer added 19 points and was only two rebounds shy of her fourth double-double with eight rebounds as well as a team-high five steals.
Kylee Day contributed 12 points off the bench with three assists.

The first quarter was back-and-forth early with three lead changes, two ties and neither team able to gain more than a five-point advantage in the first five minutes. However, the Lady Hornet went on a 13-1 run to take their largest lead of the game with 4:10 left in the quarter and managed to mostly maintain that margin as they took a 21-14 advantage into the final 10 minutes of the half.

In the second quarter, the Hillcats went to work cutting into the deficit and battled all period. They eventually were able to regain the lead briefly at 34-31 with 1:50 left in the half. Unfortunately, ESU responded and both teams went to the lockers rooms deadlocked at 36-36.

The second half was all RSU as they opened the third quarter on a 14-3 run to go up 50-39. The Lady Hornets tried to mount a comeback late in the period, but were only able to get within five points at 52-47. The Hillcats carried a 59-47 lead into the final 10 minutes, and continued to roll in the fourth quarter outscoring ESU 18-12 for the 77-59 victory.

RSU will be back in action at the Claremore Expo Center on Monday, Feb. 7 as they face off against Washburn. Tipoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.
