EDMOND, Okla.– Rogers State softball (6-1) took down Southwestern Oklahoma State (0-2) in the first game of the OC/UCO Invitational on Friday.

The Hillcats got things started in the first inning with an early 1-0 lead.
Tailee Reding walked on four pitches to start the frame and later scored on a
Makayla Bowman RBI double down the left field line.

Both pitching staffs worked the next three innings without giving up a run.

RSU added to their lead with two runs in the fifth inning to push out to a 3-0 lead. Reding scored
Rebecca Bell on a RBI fielder's choice.
Jaylan Gibson drove in
Nicole Price with a sacrifice fly to center.

Andrea Morales (4-0) was nearly untouchable in the circle as she earned the shutout win with 13 strikeouts and allowed only three hits and one walk. Brianna Cryer (0-1) suffered the loss.

The Hillcats will be back in action tomorrow as they face off against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Christian. The games are set to begin at 12:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., respectively.
