MOORHEAD, Minn. – Rogers State women's basketball (0-2) fell 67-46 to Northern State (1-1) in the final game of the Regional Challenge on Saturday.

Bailey Kliewer led the Hillcats with 18 points as well as five rebounds and a block. Tangee Gagau put up nine points with a rebound. Jordan Lewis added seven points with team-highs of seven rebounds and two assists to go with a block and a steal. Trinity Jackson contributed five points with six rebounds, an assist and a block.

The opening quarter was a back-and-forth affair with neither side able to get much separation. The Hillcats opened the game on a 3-2 run, but the Wolves answered back and took the lead 6-3 with back-to-back layups. A Kliewer three-pointer tied things up, but NSU retook the lead and eventually took a 11-8 advantage into the final 10 minutes of the half.

RSU went on a 7-2 run to start the second quarter with a 15-13 lead. A 12-3 run by the Wolves closed out the half and gave NSU a 28-21 lead going into the break.

The Wovles extended their lead with a 12-5 run and go up 40-26 to begin the second half. NSU tacked on another run of 7-3 to push out to 47-31, and carried a 47-34 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Hillcats refused to lay down in the final 10 minutes as they continued to fight. They battled to cut the deficit to 10 points at 53-45 with 4 minutes left thanks to a 7-3 run. Unfortunately, the comeback stalled out as NSU closed the game with 12 unanswered points to secure the 67-46 win.

RSU will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 18 as they stay on the road and travel to Quicy, Ill. to face off against Quincy in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Classic. Tipoff is set 7 p.m.
