HAYS, Kan. – Rogers State women's soccer (4-4-6, 1-2-4 MIAA) battled to a 1-1 draw on the road against Fort Hays State (8-0-6, 3-0-4 MIAA) on Sunday.
Andrea Egerer scored her second goal of the season on the day. Tiffany Brittany was excellent in goal as she made three saves on 10 shots faced, only allowing the one goal.
The Hillcats came out of the gates white hot as they immediately applied intense offensive pressure. In the eighth minute Andrea Egerer put RSU up 1-0 early as she found the back of the net off a free kick from Ashton Shepperson. The Tigers responded in the 29th minute as they scored the equalizer off a corner kick to knot things at 1-1. Both teams made five shots in the period with two shots on goal apiece.
The second half was a much more defensive heavy period. Neither sides could get many offensive chances in the final 45 minutes. FHSU managed to outshoot the Hillcats 5-3 in the period with two shots on goal compared to just one.
The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 14 as they stay on the road with a trip to St. Joseph, Mo. to face off against Missouri Western. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
