KEARNEY, Neb. – Rogers State women's soccer (4-4-5, 1-2-3 MIAA) fought to a scoreless draw against Nebraska-Kearney (0-10-3, 0-4-2 MIAA) on the road on Friday.
Cambree Towle was brilliant in goal as she logged her second clean sheet of the season with five saves on seven shots faced.
The first half was a defensive struggle as neither team was able to get many offensive opportunities. The Lopers outshot RSU 3-2 with both sides making two shots on goal. The first of the Hillcats opportunities came in the 27th minute as Libby Doyle fired in a shot to the bottom right corner of the goal only for the UNK keeper to knock it away. Doyle again fired in another shot in the 37th minute that was also saved.
The final 45 minutes were more of the same without a lot of offense. RSU outshot the Lopers 7-4 with both sides taking three shots on goal. The Hillcats saw a flurry of chances in the final 10 minutes as Andrea Egerer blasted a shot in the 80th minute followed by Doyle taking two shots in the 86th and 89th minute.
RSU will continue the road trip on Sunday, Oct. 9 as they travel to Hays, Kan. to face off against Fort Hays State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
