WICHITA, Kan. – Rogers State women's soccer (5-0) rolled to their fifth straight win and continued their best start since 2017 with a 3-0 non-conference win over Newman on the road.
Three different Hillcats connected on goals in the win. Libby Doyle, Andrea Egerer and Jenna Burkham all found the back of the net. Savannah Harvey was excellent in goal as she logged her second straight shutout with one save.
While the Jets out shot RSU 5-4 in the first half, the Hillcats made their shots count. Doyle scored the match's first goal in the fifth minute. The RSU defense kept up the stifling pressure they have shown through out the season as Newman only got off one shot on goal.
In the second half, the Hillcats cranked up the pressure on both sides of the ball. Egerer added to the lead in the 64th minute, with Burkham following in the 66th minute on pass from Audrey Cook. The defense continued to impose their will on the Jets as they were unable to get off a shot on goal in the final 45 minutes.
The Hillcats will be back in action as they close out their road trip on Sunday, Sept. 19 as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. for a non-conference matchup against Northeastern State.
