HAYS, Kan. – Rogers State softball split with Fort Hays State in a key MIAA doubleheader at Tiger Stadium Friday afternoon.
GAME ONE

How It Happened
- After two scoreless innings from both teams, Rogers State got things started in the third with a leadoff double from Brielle Tyseling.
- Two batters later, Tailee Reding gave the Hillcats the lead with a single up the middle to score Tyseling from third.
- Reding would then double the Hillcat lead after reaching third and then scoring on a throwing error by the shortstop on an infield grounder by Makayla Bowman.
- The Hillcats wouldn't need anymore run support, as Andrea Morales was dominant in the circle.
- Fort Hays State would get runners to second and third with one out in the fifth, but Morales recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the biggest threat from the Tigers in the game.
- The Tigers would get runners on first and second to start the sixth, but Morales forced a pop up and had two more strikeouts to eliminate the only other threat from Fort Hays State.
Game Notes
- Morales allowed just one hit through the first four innings and finished with nine strikeouts and just four hits against with no walks for her ninth shutout of the season.
- Tyseling finished with two of the three hits for the Hillcats in the game, recording a double and a single with a run scored.
- Reding had the only other hit, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Bowman and Elexis Watson each had a walk. Danelle Day also reached on a hit by pitch.
- The win moved the Hillcats into a tie for fifth in the MIAA Standings with Fort Hays State.

How It Happened
- After a one-out double by Reding in the top of the first, Day hit a two-out single but the inning came to an end as Reding was out at home trying to score from second on the play.
- The Tigers took the lead with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second inning by Elise Capra.
- The Hillcats responded by loading the bases in the top of the third, and Day scored Sabrina Anguiano from third with an RBI groundout.
- Rogers State would strand runners at second and third in the third inning and were retired in order over the final four innings.
Game Notes
- Delanie Freeze picked up the loss after giving up the three runs in the second inning on four hits and a walk. She finished with two strikeouts.
- M'Kayla Hillman pitched four innings of relief, allowing just one hit and one walk with a strikeout. She forced nine ground outs.
- Reding had the only multi-hit performance for RSU, going 2-for-3 with a double.
- Anguiano, Bowman and Day all had 1-for-3 outings at the plate with a single.
- Watson had the only other hit with a double.
- The loss saw the Hillcats fall one game back of Fort Hays State, who moved up to fourth in the standings after the win in game two.

Rogers State will look to rebound with the final road games of the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Kearney, Nebraska to take on the Lopers in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon in Kearney.
