ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Rogers State women's basketball (4-3, 0-1 MIAA) fell 83-58 against Missouri Western (5-0, 1-0 MIAA) to open up MIAA play on the road on Thursday.
Three Hillcats finished in double-digits on the night. Bailey Kliewer led RSU with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Katrina Christian posted 11 points as well as four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kloe Bowin added 10 points, two blocks, two steals, a rebound and an assist. In total, four different Hillcats brought down four boards, including Christian, Julie Luna, Kylee Day and Zoey Whiteley.
RSU started slow as the Griffons went on a 7-3 run to start the game. The Hillcats quickly found their footing as they went on their own 5-0 run to take a 8-7 lead. MWSU responded by closing out the quarter on a 15-6 run for a 22-14 advantage.
The second quarter was back and forth. Unfortunately, the Griffons kept the upper hand as they outscored RSU 12-9 in the period and took a double-digit lead of 34-23 into the locker room.
In the second half, the Hillcats could not find an answer to MWSU's scoring as they fell behind 60-42 at the end of the third quarter, and were outscored 23-16 in the fourth quarter with the Griffons taking the 83-58 victory.
RSU will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 4 as they close out the road trip with a stop in Maryville, Mo. to face off against Northwest Missouri. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
