Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RSU Defeats Nebraska-Kearney 2-0

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (8-7-1, 3-6 MIAA) took down Nebraska-Kearney (2-14, 1-8 MIAA) in a 2-0 shutout on Sunday.

Two Hillcats scored in the win. Kori Watters and Vanessa Gonzalez both found the back of the net on the day. Savannah Harvey was excellent in goal as she registered five saves.

RSU pressured the Lopers the entire match as they out shot UNK 26-7. Watters put the Hillcats on the board in the 14th minute by tapping the ball into the front right corner of the goal on a pass from Libby Doyle. They would have a couple other chances in the half, but the Loper defense held the score at 1-0 going into the intermission.

The Hillcats kept up the pressure in the second half as Gonzalez put the game away in the 64th minute on a ball from Ashton Shepperson. Harvey and the RSU defense kept UNK at bay as they only allowed them three shots on the goal for the remainder of the match.

RSU will be back in action at Soldier Field on Friday, Oct. 29 as they play host to Northeastern State in the regular season home finale. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m.
