Seniors Lead Hillcats to Big Win in Final Home Game

CLAREMORE, Okla.- In the final home game of the season, Rogers State Women's Basketball used their defensive power to defeat visiting Texas A&M International by a final score of 71-44 on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference play.

The Hillcats (13-12, 6-6 Heartland) set a school record for blocks in a game with ten and were led by senior forward Lauren Schuldt with five. With two regular season games remaining in her career, Schuldt holds the Rogers State single season (63) and career record (181) for blocks.

Along with Schuldt's block party came her team high 17 points. Tied with Schuldt for the team lead in points on senior night was senior forward Lindsey Byfield

Junior guard Azaria Floyd scored in double figures off of the bench with 10, as well.

Several seniors contributed to outrebounding the visiting DustDevils (0-24, 0-12) by a 42-36 margin in route to the Hillcats second home win in a row. Guard Carlye Bohannon and Byfield both had five, while guard Denisha Ford had four in her final home game as a Hillcat.

Schuldt added seven to maintain her position ranked second in conference.

Rogers State dominated in the paint with 40 points on the day, never trailing the Dustdevils after the first quarter. The Hillcats shot over 50 percent from the field in the second and third quarter extending the lead to as much as 29 in the third, allowing first year head coach Kyle Bent to remove each senior individually to a deserved round of applause.

The Hillcats travel to Wichita, Kansas on Wednesday to face Newman (17-9, 8-4) at 5:30 p.m.
