Jets Best Hillcats, 2-0

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's soccer team fell, 2-0, in a Heartland Conference matchup against Newman (Kan.) Saturday at Soldier Field.

The Hillcats trailed early after Morgan Foster curled the ball into the net upper-90, backside from the top of the box eight minutes into the match. The goal was Foster's third of the season and second against RSU this year.

RSU was unable to convert chances by Kimberlin Bennett and Jasmine Guerra in the first half and went into the locker room at intermission down, 1-0.

In the second stanza, Amanda Jones gave the Hillcats a chance to equalize 10 minutes into the half, firing a shot from the top of the box but NU goalkeeper Ashley Sweetnam was there to make the save.

With four minutes to play in the contest, the RSU offense broke through the Jets defense and Taylor Williams fired a shot on frame but Sweetnam came up with a big save to keep the Hillcats off the scoreboard. Seconds later, NU countered and Rosa Urista-Chico sealed the win for the Jets blasting a goal upper-90, backside from 25 yards out.

Tayler Stover (4-6-1) suffered the loss in goal, making 10 saves while allowing two goals.

Rogers State (5-6-1, 1-6-1 HC) returns to the pitch Thursday, October 13 as the Hillcats travel to Dallas Baptist for a Heartland Conference match, starting at 7 p.m.
