Jade Gifford broke around the RSU defense and snuck a shot inside the right post giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. WJC struck for a pair of goals 33 seconds apart in the 24th minute pushing the advantage to 3-0.

Jianna Cervantes had two chances from close range in the closing minutes of the opening half, but both efforts found the arms of Cardinals' goalkeeper Jordan Lewis as the Hillcats trailed 3-0 at the intermission.
In the second half, the Hillcats came out of the locker room playing inspired soccer putting pressure on the WJC back line.
Katlin Moran sent a 49th-minute shot just over the crossbar after RSU connected on several passes in the offensive third.
Despite the attacking push, RSU could not dent the scoreboard and the Cardinals added a pair of late goals for the 5-0 victory.
Tayler Stover made seven saves for the Hillcats in the loss, while WJC's Lewis ended the match turning aside five shots for the shutout victory.
The Hillcats (0-8 overall) are back on the field Saturday afternoon for a 5:30 p.m. start in the non-conference finale for RSU.
