CLAREMORE, Okla. – Five players scored in double figures for the Rogers State women's basketball team in a 90-28 rout of Ecclesia on Homecoming at the Claremore Expo Center Saturday afternoon.
The Hillcats forced a season-high 34 turnovers leading to 47 points on the offensive end getting career-highs from five players. Freshman
Lauren Schuldt led the charge with 19 points shooting 9-of-14 from the floor as RSU tied a school record with 13 made three pointers.
After allowing the opening basket to the Royals, the Hillcats showcased their outside shooting abilities and scored the next 16 points.
Lindsey Byfield hit from long range to give RSU the lead and never looked back jumping out to a 29-8 advantage through the first quarter.
Danielle Carr drained a trey on the opening possession of the second quarter for the navy and red as the home side started the period scoring the first 14 points. RSU cruised to a 54-12 halftime lead out-scoring Ecclesia 25-4 in period two.
A 10-0 run to start the third quarter pushed the lead to 64-12 and a 9-2 run in the fourth frame extended the lead to 58 points. The Hillcats closed out the Homecoming victory 90-28 allowing the second-fewest points in the program's nine-year history, one point shy of tying the record set in 2008.
Schuldt and Roberts came off the bench scoring 19 and 16 points, respectively, to pace RSU, while Byfield (14),
Rachel Block (11), and
Natasha Kindred (10) also reached double figures. Carr had a career day pulling down a game-high eight rebounds and added eight points.
Carlye Bohannan and Block finished the afternoon with career-high seven assists apiece.
