Diamond Cats Dropped at Oklahoma Baptist, 15-2

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team could not hold back the offense of Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday falling 15-2 in non-conference action at Bison Field at Ford Park.

The Bison belted 18 hits in the game counting four doubles, a triple, and two home runs and scored at least three runs in four different innings. OBU started the scoring with three in the first inning while the Hillcats struck for their only two runs in the fourth closing the deficit to 4-2.

A four-run sixth broke the close game open for the Bison, who tacked on four in the seventh and three in the eighth to get the victory.

Caleb Kohlmeyer went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run and Blake Gipson added the second run for the Diamond Cats tallying one hit.

OBU got hits from 11 different players led by 3-for-4 nights from Steven Knudson and Garrett Gallacher. Knudson added four RBIs to lead the offense.

RSU starter T.J. Law took the loss scattering seven hits in 5.2 innings pitched allowing seven runs while striking out six.

Richard Lucas earned the win for OBU throwing six innings without allowing an earned run despite two crossing the plate on five hits.

Rogers State (12-14) looks to get back on track and end a six-game losing skid when it faces Newman University for a three-game Heartland Conference series March 28-29.
