Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Thomas, Hillcats Hold Off Lady Eagles, 3-2

CLAREMORE, Okla.- Senior Blair Thomas closed out her final home game on the Hill with the game-winning goal and two assists as Rogers State women's soccer  tallied a 3-2 Heartland Conference victory over Oklahoma Christian on Monday afternoon.

All five goals were scored in the second frame and the Hillcats had to fend off a late Lady Eagle rally to seal the win.

Leigh Ann Craig tallied her first career goal in the 55th minute to give the Hillcats the advantage. The freshman slid in front the goalkeeper to beat her to the ball and put it into the back of the net. Jianna Cervantes and Blair Thomas strung together a couple of passes with Thomas crossing the ball into the box and Cervantes flicking it on to Craig.

Cervantes gave the Hillcats a 2-0 advantage in the 62nd minute with Thomas tallying her fourth assist of the year.

The Lady Eagles cut the Hillcat lead in the 79th minute as Courtney Nixon buried the ball in the right corner off a breakaway.

Blair Thomas tallied the eventual game-winning goal in the 83rd minute breaking through the defense and blasting a shot past the keeper from six yards out.
Estefania Bermudez cut the OC deficit in the 85th minute but the Hillcats held on for the win.

Teri Cocke registered the complete-game victory in goal with six saves while Lindsey Williams made five save, taking the loss for OC.
