Chaps Clip Cats, 2-1

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Heartland Conference rival Lubbock Christian on Monday afternoon at Soldier Field.

Blair Thomas gave the Hillcats an early lead as she found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the game. The junior midfielder dribbled the length of the LCU defensive half of the field past several defenders and fired the ball top shelf out of the goalkeeper's reach to give RSU the 1-0 lead.

The RSU advantage was short-lived as the Chaps tallied the equalizer just one minute later with a goal by Brooke Wendl. The sophomore from Plano, Texas tallied the go ahead goal in the 32nd minute from the top of the box, blasting the ball back post.

The Hillcats had several opportunities to equalize in the second stanza but struggled to put shots on frame. Although the Hillcats had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, the Chaps outshot the Hillcats 13-5 in the match. It was the first time LCU has bested the Hillcats since the Chaps started soccer in 2010.

Jordan Harris suffered the loss in goal for the Hillcats, allowing two goals while making eight saves. Lauren Story made two saves while allowing one goal to record the win.

Rogers State (2-10-1, 1-5 HC) will return to the pitch on Saturday as the Hillcats take on Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City at 7: 30 p.m.
