The Hillcat women built an early lead but saw the Lady Hawks fight back in the second half to make things interesting. As RSU twice built an 18 point advantage in the opening stanza as the Cats entered the intermission leading 33-21. RSU shot 43.8 percent from the field in the first half as Gianna Woods pulled in 10 rebounds in the period.

SU responded over the next 5:23 outscoring the Cats 18-2 but was never able to tie the game or take the lead. As RSU held off the Lady Hawks down the stretch, Sierra Cornwell's reverse layup and free throw put the Hillcats lead to six. A quick response 3-pointer by Robyn Foster trimmed the lead to 61-58 and a Megan Queen free throw on the backside of a double bonus trip put RSU up by two with 46 seconds remaining. That's when senior point guard Sasha Barnes drilled a 3-pointer from the right wing as the shot clock expired with 18 seconds on the clock put RSU up 64-59.
The Lady Hawks missed a last second layup attempt and Cornwell nabbed the ball from the rebounder as the Hillcats held on to advance to the NAIA Quarterfinals.
