Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hillcats Rout Royals, 68-38

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - The Rogers State women's basketball team pushed its winning streak to four games on Tuesday night as they registered a 68-38 victory over Ecclesia College at Wildcat Arena on the campus of Har-Ber High School.

The Hillcats were sluggish in the opening stanza, shooting 34 percent from the field, committing nine turnovers and failing to shoot from behind the arc. Despite a sub par performance, RSU tallied a 24-20 lead at intermission. The bright spot in the first half was freshman Larrielle Giles who surpassed her career-high with 10 points at the midway point, while adding four rebounds and a trio of blocked shots.

Coach Amy Williams' squad opened the second frame energized, holding the Royals to just two points in the fist ten minutes of the second half while pouring on 24 points to take a commanding 46-22 advantage. From there the Hillcats cruised to victory, leading by as many as 32 points in the contest.

Giles led all scorers with 16 points on the night. The Tulsa, Okla. native, added a career-high five blocks and six rebounds. Juniors Logan Froese and Sierra Cornwell rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Hillcats with 12 points apiece. Cornwell was one steal shy of tying the single-game record, swiping seven steals. Cortney Crockett holds the record with eight steals against Oklahoma Christian on December 4, 2010.

The Hillcats registered 17 steals and tallied 16 points off EC turnovers.

Rogers State (6-2, 1-0) returns to Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday as they host Wayland Baptist at the Claremore Expo at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
