Hillcats Edge OC, 3-2

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team closed their regular season home slate with a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday evening at Soldier Field.

RSU honored four seniors - Bailey Lynn, Casey Freeman, Adrianna Jefferis and Tiffany Roberts who played in their final game at Soldier Field.

The Hillcats took an early lead in the 10th minute of play with OC scoring an own goal. Morghan Saliba crossed the ball into the box where it ricocheted off an OC defender into the net.

Roberts scored her fourth goal of the season, giving the Hillcats a 2-0 advantage just before intermission. The Claremore native knocked the ball into the net after it tipped off the keeper's hands in front of the goal.

RSU's final goal of the night came from Shereen Clarke. Roberts slotted the ball through the defense to Clarke who buried it into the back of the net from the penalty kick spot. The goal was Clarkes eighth of the season.

The Eagles fought back with two goals late in the game. Angela Pete broke through the defense and slotted the ball past Hillcat goalkeeper Jessica McCutcheon in the 73rd minute. Emma Cole brought OC within one goal of the Hillcats in the 84th minute, finding the back of the net off a defensive deflection in the box.

Senior Bailey Lynn played 1:38; the Oklahoma City native received a season ending injury during preseason keeping her off the pitch. Jessica McCutcheon finished the game, making nine saves while allowing two goals.

RSU edged the Eagles on offense, firing 12 shots on frame while OC put 11 shots on target.

The Hillcats (9-5-1, 5-3-1 SAC) round out their regular season slate on Tuesday, Nov. 2 as they travel to Mid-America Christian. Kickoff is set 1 p.m.
