OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Rogers State kicked off the final week of the regular season the right way with a doubleheader sweep over Mid-America Christian Monday at Ann Lacy Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The Hillcats edged the Lady Evangels, 3-1 in the opener and then earned a 9-1, six-inning run-rule victory in the nightcap to complete the sweep. Jenny Johnson picked up both pitching victories while Natalie Smith belted a three-run homer in the finale.
GAME ONE

Johnson held MACU to three hits in the opener en route to a 3-1 win.
The Cats scratched across an unearned run in the third inning and added two more in the sixth. Megan Wood, Lillian Nevarez and Marie Gaudet delivered singles in the sixth frame as RSU took a 3-0 lead. The Evangels managed to plate a single run in the bottom of the sixth before bowing out quietly in the seventh.
Johnson tossed a complete game, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Kalynee Tweedie (4-12) took the loss for MACU in a complete-game performance. Gaudet tallied two of the Hillcats six hits.
GAME TWO

The Lady Evangels committed eight errors in the nightcap leading to a 9-1 run-rule victory for RSU.

The miscues accounted for six unearned runs for the Hillcats. RSU took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning when Johnson belted a two-run single. The Cats broke the game open in the fifth when they capitalized on four MACU errors to stretch the lead to 6-1.

Smith swatted her sixth home run of the season in the sixth to reach the run-rule margin. Johnson (27-19) tied an RSU single-season record for wins by recording her 27th victory with four innings of work. Caitlyn Ulmer (8-12) was tagged with the loss for MACU after giving up six runs, one earned, in five innings of work.

Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBI while Smith added three RBI and two runs scored.

Rogers State (29-21, 11-13) will close out the regular season Tuesday against Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader at Ann Lacey Stadium in Oklahoma City. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
