RSU Women Top Oklahoma Wesleyan, 68-55

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Rogers State dominated the glass and used its size in the paint to post a 68-55 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan Tuesday night in Bartlesville, Okla.

A trio of Hillcat forwards reached double figures, led by senior Jenny Hardin with a game-high 20 points. Senior Yoda Woods and freshman Logan Froese chipped in with 11 points apiece. RSU outrebounded the Lady Eagles, 56-42. Woods and junior forward Candice Stewart spurred the Cats inspired effort on the boards by combining for 22 rebounds .

Woods and Hardin converted back-to-back buckets with five minutes remaining in the first half to give the Cats a double-digit advantage at 23-12. The lead stretched to 16 before the break as Hardin poured in 13 first half points.

RSU pushed the margin to 21 points at the midway point of the second half before a late rally by OWU made the final outcome look respectable. Rebecca Schluter led the Eagles with 16 points and 10 rebounds. OWU shot just 22 percent from the floor in the first half, but bounced back with a 42 percent effort in the second period.

RSU struggled to find a rhythm on offense, shooting 31 percent from the field. However, the Cats managed to haul in 27 offensive rebounds and forced OWU into 17 turnovers in the contest.

Rogers State (2-0) improved to 2-0 for the first time in program history and avenged last year's homecoming loss to the Lady Eagles. RSU now leads the all-time series against Oklahoma Wesleyan three games to one. The Hillcats return to action Friday and Saturday at the Claremore Expo for Hoopin' for the Cure, presented by Claremore Regional Hospital. RSU will face Ecclesia College Friday night at 6 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
