CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State whacked Oklahoma Christian 10-0 and sent its five seniors out on a positive note with a seven inning run-rule victory in the final home game of the spring at the Hillcat Complex Thursday.
Â
The Cats scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to four hits and three Eagles errors. Senior Greg Speed led off the inning with a bunt single and went to second on a single to left by Blake Kelley. Zach Hamby walked to load the bases and two runs came home on a misplayed grounder off the bat of Coby Wright. Ryan Littlejohn and senior Tyler Henderson followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Littlejohn and Henderson raced home on a pass ball followed by wild throw by OC catcher Jeff Davis to make it 6-0 Hillcats.
Â
RSU added two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to reach the 10-run rule. Speed laced an RBI single in the fourth while Wright picked up an RBI with an infield single in the sixth. Speed and Kelley paced the Cats with two hits apiece while Kelly drove in two runs.
Â
Josh Walker (5-2) was brilliant in five innings on the hill. The sophomore allowed just one hit and struck out two with one walk. He moved into a three-way tie with Sam Cornell and senior Tyler Whitaker for the team lead with five wins. Shawn Epps and D.J. Thompson tossed back-to-back scoreless innings to complete the shutout. Thompson struck out the side in the seventh.
Â
Speed, Henderson, Whitaker, Eric Schulz and Dusty Carriger each played their final home game in a Hillcat uniform. Henderson and Schulz have shared the catching duties the past two seasons. Speed has been the catalyst at the top of the RSU lineup and holds the team records for career hits, runs and stolen bases. Carriger is the career leader in strikeouts, innings pitched and wins while Whitaker is second in career wins and starts. Four of the five seniors are slated for graduation this spring.

First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. The Hillcats are currently ranked fifth in Region VI and will participate in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament next week in Plainview, Texas.
