CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State earned its second run-rule victory in as many days at the Hillcats drubbed Northwestern Oklahoma State 11-1 at the Hillcat Complex Thursday.

Randy Jones roped an RBI double to left in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Cats a 10-run lead and halt the game via the run-rule. RSU tallied nine hits and benefited from five Northwestern errors in the contest. The five Ranger miscues led to 10 unearned runs in the game.

The Hillcats scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning off Northwestern starter Matt Stratton. Brandon Denton led off the inning with a double to right and Greg Speed followed with a bunt single. Both runners eventually scored on a wild throw by Rangers third baseman Colby Clodfelter. Coby Wright tacked on a two RBI double to give RSU a 4-0 lead.

The Hillcats added a run in the third and four more in the fifth to extend the lead to 9-0. Zack Hamby and Ryan Littlejohn both reached on errors to start the fifth inning. Travis Harold came through with an RBI single and then Wright added his second two RBI double of the day with a line shot down the left field line. Hamby chipped in with an RBI double in the sixth to give the Cats a 10-run lead.

RSU starter Shawn Epps (3-1) was dominant in six innings of work. He allowed just four hits while racking up six strikeouts to record his third win of the season. Freshman Matt Brimer allowed the only Northwestern run of the day while pitching the seventh inning. Speed, Wright and Jones had two hits apiece for the Hillcats. Wright plated a season-high five RBI on the day.

Rogers State (9-4, 3-3) picked up its third conference win and will look to earn its second conference series victory on Saturday at Northwestern. The Hillcats will travel to Alva to face the Rangers in the doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
