RSU Women Rip Royals and Record Books, 105-64

CLAREMORE, Okla. - It was night for the record books as Rogers State broke seven team bench marks and three individual records in a 105-64 drubbing of Ecclesia College (Springdale, Ark.) Friday night at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats shattered the single-game scoring record set last season by 21 points much to the delight of the 591 fans on hand for the first night of Hoopin' for the Cure presented by Claremore Regional Hospital.

Sophomore Hunter Peterson led the way with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Peterson broke her own single-game scoring record by one point. She was joined in double figures by Katie Rice (16), Andrea Miles (14) and Effanesia Baker (13), all of whom either set or tied personal scoring records.

The game was virtually over before it started as RSU posted a 57-30 halftime lead behind 17 first half points from Peterson. The Hillcats shot a blistering 56 percent from the floor in the first half and connected on 8-of-14 3-pointers. Before the night was over Coach Amy Williams' team had set new marks for field goals made (44), 3-pointers made (9), rebounds (59), points (105) and assists (22).

The Hillcats nearly doubled the Royals on the boards with a 59-31 advantage. Senior Tasha Parker set a team record with 11 defensive rebounds and finished with 14 total boards. Ecclesia, a first-year program playing with just six players, was clearly overmatched by a deeper and more physical RSU squad.

Three Hillcats posted double-doubles. Rice tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds and Parker had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Autumn Thompson destroyed the team single-game assists record with 12 in the contest to go along with 12 points.

In the first game of the day Oklahoma City had no trouble against Texas College, cruising to a 100-50 win. OCU will face Ecclesia College Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the first game of the day at the Claremore Expo.

Rogers State (3-1) will take on Texas College in the final game of Hoopin' for the Cure Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
