Kyle Bent wrapped up his fourth season with the Hillcats in 2021-22, leading RSU to its best season in the MIAA. His third season with the Hillcats in the new league saw the influx of a large recruiting class and the development of a couple freshman and newcomers into the rotation. Over the last three seasons, Bent has developed young talent to play a key role in his rebuilding effort.

Last season, Bent led RSU to its best season in his tenure with an 11-17 record (7-15 MIAA). The Hillcats have increased their win total in each of the last three seasons under his guidance. This season was highlighted by two three-game win streaks in conference play, with upset wins over Pittsburg State, Emporia State and Washburn.

2020-21 freshman Shay Stone set the freshman block record at Rogers State with 40, despite playing just a 22 game season. She also fell one block shy of the school record with six in a game against Central Oklahoma.

Under the guidance of Bent in 2019-20, freshman Bailey Kliewer became just the third Hillcat to make at least eight shots and shoot 100 percent from the field, as she went 8-for-8 in the program's first MIAA win against Lincoln. She also fell one block shy of the school record with six in the same game.

Fellow freshman Alyche Brown was second on the team in minutes played and a key defensive piece to the Hillcats. Her six steals at Northeastern State is tied for the eighth most in school history.

Newcomers Samariah Thompson and Vanessa Gajdosova joined Kliewer and three returners in a balanced attack averaging between 8.8 and 7.2 points per game.

After taking over the Women's Basketball program in August prior to the 2018-19 season Bent and Rogers State reached the Heartland Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed, the highest regular season finish in the program's Heartland and NCAA history. Under Bent's guidance, the Hillcats finished the season 14-14 with a 7-7 record in conference play. Lauren Schuldt, who set multiple school records during her senior season, was also named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Bent became Rogers States fourth women's basketball head coach after spending four seasons as the head coach at Martin Methodist College (now known as UT Southern) in Pulaski, Tennessee. In his four seasons, Bent guided the RedHawks to four straight NAIA National Tournament appearances and posted an overall record of 95-38 (71.4 percent), leaving as the all-time winningest coach in Martin Methodist history. Bent totaled five NAIA All-Americans and 10 All-Southern State Athletic Conference picks in his four years at MMC.

During the 2017-18 season, Bent led Martin Methodist to its first-ever Southern States Athletic Conference championship with a 15-1 mark in league play and a school record 27 wins overall. Bent was named the Southern State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and two RedHawks earned NAIA All-American honors.

In his first season at Martin Methodist, Bent saw immediate success with a 25-8 record, a school record before his 2017-18 team broke that mark. Bent and his RedHawk team knocked off the highest-rank opponent in program history in his second season in 2015-16, defeating No. 2-ranked Freed-Hardeman. The RedHawks made their first-ever SSAC Championship game appearance in 2015-16 and finished with a 22-12 record.

Before his time at Martin Methodist, Bent served as the head women's basketball coach for Danville Area Community College for four seasons. He turned around a struggling DACC program and posted two consecutive 22-win seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14. After going 3-26 in his first season in 2010-11, Bent registered a 63-31 record during his final three seasons. Under Bent's tutelage, he totaled three All-Americans and nine all-conference selections in his four seasons as the head coach of DACC. He was named the NJCAA Region 24 Coach of the Year after 2011-12 season when the Lady Jaguars posted a 16-win improvement from the previous season.

Prior to DACC, Bent coached the University of Illinois Women's Club Basketball Team during the 2009-10 season. The Illinois club team went 36-8, after winning only two games the previous season, winning the National Collegiate Club Basketball Championship.

Bent earned masters and bachelors degrees in sport management from the University of Illinois in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
