Mark Dicus

Head Softball Coach Mark Dicus begins his fifth season at the helm of the Rogers State softball program in 2013.


In four seasons leading the Hillcats, Dicus has compiled a 135-101 record in four seasons, most by any coach in program history. In 2012 the Hillcats compiled its best record under coach Dicus finishing at 36-23.


Over five years at the helm he has coached 18 All-Sooner Athletic Conference players, three SAC Gold Glovers, two NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, one CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America selection.


The Hillcats have reached the SAC postseason tournament in all four years of the Dicus era.


Prior to joining the Hillcats, Dicus spent a decade building a championship program at Seminole State College. In his 10 seasons at Seminole, Dicus led the Lady Trojans to a 550-196 overall record, claimed seven conference championships and made four national tournament appearances. He carved his niche as a softball guru during a 13-year run at Dewey High School. Dicus led the Bulldoggers to 13 straight state tournament appearances, reaching the championship game nine times while earning four state titles. He leaped to the college ranks in 1999 when he became the first head softball coach at Seminole State.


Dicus won 79-percent (448-118) of his games as the softball coach at DHS and was named the Oklahoma State Coach of the Year four times for his efforts. He was honored as the National Federation Coach of the Year in 1994 and was elected to the Oklahoma High School Fastpitch Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002.


A lifelong Oklahoman, Dicus began his coaching career on the gridiron and baseball diamond during stints at Tuttle and Mangum from 1981-1987.

Dicus began his collegiate playing career at Oklahoma City Southwestern College where he was a catcher and pitcher. He helped Oklahoma City Southwestern College to a NJCAA national runner-up finish. Dicus transferred to Northwestern Oklahoma State where he played catcher, third base and pitched. A two-time All-Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference selection he was also a member of the Ranger football team.

He graduated in 1980 from Northwestern Oklahoma State with a Bachelors in Psychology and in 2009 graduated from East Central University (Okla.) with a Masters of Education in Sport Administration.

Dicus has three daughters Stephanie (married to Scott), Sarah (married to Jeremy) and Brooke (15). He has six grandchildren Jeanna, Anna, Ben, Jackson Mark, Jace and Jaylee. Mark and his wife Jill reside in Claremore.Â
