Head Softball Coach Dawn Reed-Schultz joined RSU in 2005 after previously serving as the head softball coach at Bacone College where she established a nationally recognized NAIA program which finished ranked in the top 15 in consecutive seasons. Since taking the helm at RSU Reed-Schultz has reaffirmed her reputation as a program builder, leading the Hillcats to an impressive 60-32 record in their first two seasons of competition. She coached RSU to its first post-season appearance in 2007 and a Top 25 national ranking. Reed-Schultz has compiled a career record of 207-98 in her first six seasons as a head coach.

Reed-Schultz also serves as Senior Women’s Administrator for RSU athletics. She helps implement all new female athletics programs at RSU and is charged with ensuring the eligibility of all student-athletes through evaluating transcripts and filing eligibility compliance reports amongst other administrative duties.

During Reed-Schultz’s tenure at Bacone, her team earned three Region VI tournament bids and was ranked in the Top 15 for most of the 2004 and 2005 season. The Lady Warriors program produced five All-Americans, one Academic All-American, 10 all-region and 20 all-conference student-athletes under Reed-Schultz’s leadership. She also served as the college’s senior administrator for women’s athletics and helped supervise the construction of an on-campus softball facility.

In 2007 Reed-Schultz’s led RSU to a fourth place finish in the Region VI tournament and placed five players on the all-region team. She also earned her 200th career coaching victory on the final day of the regular season.

A Skiatook native and former University of Tulsa standout, Reed-Schultz played third base from 1996-2000 for the Golden Hurricane. While at Tulsa she was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athlete, a Western Athletic Conference All-Conference player, and TU’s Offensive Player of the Year. Reed-Schultz served one year as an assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane before being named the head coach at Bacone in 2001.

Reed-Schultz received a bachelor’s of science and business administration and a master’s of arts from the University of Tulsa. She married Luke Schultz in June 2007.
