Summary

Biography

Ortiz spent most of her first season as the Hillcats primary catcher, starting 49 games. She hit .314 and had a fielding percentage of .966 from behind the plate. Ortiz joined the RSU softball program following a two-year stint at Midland College. She helped Midland to a conference championship in 2009 and a conference runner-up finish in 2008. Ortiz was an all-state selection and earned academic all-district honors as a senior at Monahans High School. Ortiz enjoys dancing and singing but confesses to being horrible at both. The senior backstop also has a love for icee’s. She said she chose RSU because “they have a great academic program and the great athletic program is icing on the cake.”
