MARYVILLE, Mo. – No. 6 Rogers State softball (20-5, 6-2 MIAA) swept the doubleheader against Northwest Missouri (10-13, 0-2 MIAA) to wrap up the Show Me State road trip on Friday.

GAME 1 – RSU 7, NMWSU 2

In the day's first game, the Hillcats jumped on the board early with a 1-0 lead in the first inning. After
Kaylee Lyon led off with a single through the left side of the infield,
Chloe Bohuslavicky drove her in with an RBI groundout to short.
Â
They added three more runs in the third to go up 4-0.
McKayla Carney got on with a one-out single up the middle.
Abbey Rogers then tattooed a 0-1 pitch over the left field wall for a two-run round-tripper.

In the home half of the fourth, the Bearcats scratched across two runs to cut the deficit down to 4-2, thanks to a two RBI single.

RSU put the game on ice in the seventh as they tacked on three more runs to secure the 7-2 win. Lyon launched a leadoff, solo shot to left with Rogers following it up with her second two-run blast of the day to left, scoring Carney.

Torie Sandoval (5-1) earned the win after she pitched 3.2 shutout innings in relief, scattering four hits with three strikeouts.
Jade Sanders was also solid in her 3.1 inning start, only allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Jayden Streigle (1-4) took the loss.

GAME 2 – RSU 12, NWMSU 7

The Hillcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead again in the first inning of the second game. After back-to-back full count walks of
Kaylee Lyon and
McKayla Carney,
Callie Yellin drove in Lyon with a sacrifice fly to left.
Â
Northwest's bats came alive in the bottom of the second as they brought in three runs to take a 3-1 lead. A solo home run followed by two RBI singles scored the runs.

RSU responded with two runs in the third to tie things at 3-3. Lyon led off with a solo homer to straightaway center. Carney later scored from third on a throwing error by the right fielder.

The Hillcats exploded with eight runs in the fourth to break the game open with an 11-3 lead. Lyon went yard for the second time in the game with a three-run bomb to right, plating
Saylor Brown and
Brooke Nauman. Later in the frame, Yellin followed suit with a three-run jack of her own to right center, bringing in Carney and
Abbey Rogers.
Chloe Bohuslavicky capped off the inning with a two RBI single to center, driving in Brown and
Bridgett Morales.

The Bearcats got two runs back in the bottom half to trim the margin to 11-5 with two RBI singles.

RSU pushed across one final run in the fifth to take a 12-5 advantage, thanks to an RBI single to left from
Mariah Belzer that plated Lyon.

NWMSU would add a single run in both the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings to set the final score at 12-7.

Harley Culie (9-1) earned the complete game win after allowing seven runs on 14 hits with five strikeouts. Olivia Moyer (1-5) took the loss.

The Hillcats will stay on the road as they step out of MIAA play on Tuesday, March 15 for a non-conference doubleheader with old Heartland Conference rival Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City, Okla. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
