Hillcat Preview: December 15 – December 21

CLAREMORE, Okla. -  Hillcat men's basketball will wrap up non-conference play at the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio, Texas, while the women's team will host Oklahoma Christian on Saturday in this week's edition of the Hillcat Preview presented by TTCU.

The men's basketball team will face Dallas Baptist on Tuesday and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday, with both games scheduled for 5 p.m. at Northside Sports Gymnasium. The women's basketball game will take place at the Claremore Expo Center at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

All RSU students, faculty and staff are eligible for free admission to all home sporting events. Faculty and staff can also bring one complementary guest. For questions, contact cking@rsu.edu

MEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW 
The Hillcat men's basketball team (6-4, 1-2 MIAA) finished last week with a perfect 2-0 record, securing victories over Central Oklahoma (72-67) and Haskell (110-66). Tim Jordan Jr. led the team, averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting 12-for-18 (67%) from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Benard Omooria also made a significant contribution, averaging 13.0 points per game, including 7-for-11 (64%) from three-point range. 

Tuesday marks the 13th all-time meeting between the Hillcats and Patriots, dating back to Jan. 2, 2014. The series is currently tied 6-6. RSU has lost three straight games against DBU, including the last two in the 2018-19 season. Wednesday will feature the first meeting between the Hillcats and Javelinas.

Rogers State will return to MIAA play on New Year's Day against the Newman Jets in Wichita, Kansas. The game at Fugate Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the MIAA Network and RSU Radio. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW 
Rogers State women's basketball team (3-8, 1-2 MIAA) collected its first-ever win against Central Oklahoma (66-63) before dropping a non-conference clash to Haskell (77-69) last week inside the Claremore Expo Center. Bailey Layman led the Hillcats with 15.0 points per game, including 8-for-19 (42%) from behind the arc and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Jaiana Wiggins also put together strong numbers with 12.0 points per game, 11 rebounds and six blocks.  

Saturday's contest marks the 25th all-time meeting between RSU and Oklahoma Christian. The Eagles hold a 14-10 series lead, winning the latest matchup 76-66 in Oklahoma City last season.
