KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) released its 2025 All-America honorees, and sophomore forward
Louis Bassett was named to the third team. Bassett becomes the second RSU All-American this season, joining senior
Alex Laing.
"Louis has gone from two back-to-back ACL surgeries and staring at potentially quitting soccer, to being an All-American in his second real collegiate season," commented head coach
Jake Simpson. "He has overcome some serious odds, and I am so proud he is a Hillcat!"
The Leicester, England, native earned his first career All-American honor during the 2025 season. The forward recorded 12 points in 21 games, including 20 starts, with three goals and six assists while taking 57 shots, 25 of which were on target. He was also named to the USC All-Central Region First Team, the D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team and the All-GAC/MIAA First Team. His consistent offensive performance earned him two GAC/MIAA Offensive Player of the Week awards.
RSU extended its All-American total to five with the selection. Bassett becomes the first USC All-American since head coach
Jake Simpson was named to the third team in 2019.
Among the 35 players receiving men's All-American recognition, three student-athletes are earning the second All-America honors of their careers: Bloomfield University senior defender Kody Besser, Gannon University senior midfielder Sverre Orten and University of Charleston sophomore defender Joao Silva.
This year's All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pa., in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
